The Funeral Directory uses WebTrends Live to analyze traffic to this web site. WebTrends Live does not create individual profiles for visitors. Unlike some tracking services WebTrends Live does not have a database of individual profiles for each visitor. WebTrends Live only collects aggregate data. Every time you visit our site, our servers log your visit by making a record of your IP Address and the type of Browser you are using. It tells us what part of the world you are viewing from and the various pages that you visit within the site. There is no other personal information available to us.

As it is our intent to be constantly delivering quality content, we will be using the above mentioned information to gauge the strongest and weakest areas of interest in our web site.

Additionally this can serve as statistical information in an aggregate form for potential sponsorships and existing partnerships. (i.e. our site received "X" amount of unique site visits in the month of "X"). This information is in no way personal or identifiable.

The Directories

Companies wishing to submit their information are invited to do so on our submit page. The information is immediately entered into our database. The information contained in these directories are available to be seen by the public and discretion should be taken with sensitive information.

While we strive to ensure accuracy of delivered content we can in no way guarantee it. Careful auditing of the content received by Lighthouse Publications will be carried out on a regular basis.

Monthly E-Zine

The Funeral Directory.com creates a monthly electronic newsletter that users of our site and members of our "Member Area" can sign-up for. In order to receive your subscription we ask you to fill in your name and your email address. This information is collected and put into a mailing database. The sole purpose of this list is to distribute the published E-Zine. We will not in any way give out this list of email addresses and names to any party as we do NOT support SPAMMING.

Users always have the option of canceling their subscription at any time. The user can send an email to: admin@thefuneraldirectory.com with "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the subject of the email or write to Lighthouse Publications at the above address requesting that their name be removed from the list. We will make every effort to have the individual removed from the list within 48 hours of receipt.

SympathE-Cards

The Funeral Directory.com uses a third-party provider, Webby Inc. who provides the Posty software which offers visitors to our site the ability to send electronic sympathy cards. The complete privacy policy of Webby Inc. can be viewed by clicking here. In summary Webby Inc. does not promote the sharing of confidential information in any way and are a safe and reliable source to use.

Users will have to enter: their name, their email address, the recipient's name and the recipient's email address in order to send a SympathE-card. This information is not used for data mining other than to provide statistics for the number of users of this feature.

Travel Affiliate

www.TheFuneralDirectory.com is an affiliate of TheStoreMaker.com to provide our visitors the opportunity to search, reserve or book travel arrangements online.

TheStoreMaker.com uses members' personal information only to hold or finalize members' reservations. When you make reservation through our system, we provide information about you to the airline, car rental agency, hotel, travel agency or other involved third party to ensure the successful completion of your travel arrangements. TheStoreMaker.com does not sell your personal information to the third parties not involved in the reservation process.

TheStoreMaker.com does not permanently store member' credit card information in a database. We use it only during the reservation process.

Member Area

The Funeral Directory.com has a special area for members of the Funeral Services and Affiliates only. In order to become a member of the Member Area you are required to provide:

  • a unique login name (ID)
  • a unique password
  • your name
  • your company name
  • your telephone number
  • your email address
  • your profession
  • The Funeral Directors will be required to send us a fax on their letterhead for further verification.

All of the above information is required to control the security levels of the member area. By providing a unique ID and password we have administrative control should a member misplace their information.

It is important for Lighthouse Publications to be able to carefully monitor the applicants entering the member area. The member area contains sensitive information relating to the Funeral Industry only. We must be able to verify that a person applying for membership is in fact a member of the said profession. Once verified the applicant will not be contacted again unless a suspected breach of security has occurred. We will notify members by email first and then by telephone.

Discussion Areas

Several discussion areas are set up for visitors to communicate with fellow visitors. These discussion forums are provided by our third-party provider, On The Net. On The Net's complete Privacy Policy can be viewed at: www.i-depth.com. There is no required information for a visitor to participate. Any user of the discussion board wishing to post their email address, does so at their own risk. We will not use the email addresses for any data mining. We will use the email address to inform a user if we deem their content to be inappropriate, hateful, pornographic or unlawful and request their immediate suspension of using the discussion areas.

Email-A-Friend

If a user elects to send a page of interest to a friend, family member or colleague, we ask for the recipient's email address as well as the sender's. Lighthouse Publications will automatically send the friend a one-time email containing a hyperlink back to the specified page. This information is not stored or reused for ANY purpose.

Cookies

Cookies are used to store specific data on the users hard drive which keeps information about that user. We use cookies for our member area only. When a member logs into the member area their ID and password are stored as cookies on our server and the member's computer. We have a special cookie assigned for our members who are Funeral Directors. This cookie is used for security purposes and keeping members who are not Funeral Directors from entering the area specifically designed for them.

Autoresponders

Lighthouse Publications uses autoresponders to verify that a user's request has been successfully executed. You will receive an autoresponder if:

  • You send a SympathE-card

  • You Subscribe for our monthly E-Zine

  • You register to become a member of our member's area

This email may contain user specific information like:

  • Your login ID and password. It would be wise to keep the member area autoresponder so that you will have a record of this information should you forget it.

  • The recipient's email address to confirm that you entered the right address

  • Confirmation of your E-Zine subscription. Keeping this email will assist you should you want to UNSUBSCRIBE for this feature. Simply use this email to reply with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line and your name will be removed from the mailing list within 48 hours of receipt.
